Catching Up!

Well I’ve missed posting for a couple of weeks. Been really busy here as I have been taking the critic class over at Get it Scrapped which required 2 layouts a week on top of the layouts I have to create for the designers I do layouts for. Then last weekend I was on a scrapbook retreat and I spent a lot of time scanning old pictures ready to work on. Scanning takes a while but its worth it to create layouts from the past prior to digital photography!

I must be crazy as I’ve signed up for the second session of the critic class – the first was so good I couldn’t help myself. Then I’m doing the brushes class with Tiffany Tillman and they overlap!! What am I thinking. I’m just so keen to learn and improve what I’m doing with my digital scrapbooking that these classes are really helpful. So these two classes will provide some design concepts and some new photo shop skills so definitely a step in the right direction.

That all being said I thought I would share a few of the layouts I’ve done over the last couple of weeks and at the retreat.

The first is using a template from Katie The Scrapbook Lady – Katie has recently started selling her templates on her blog. They are clean templates and really easy to work with.

This one was also done using one of Katie’s templates.

Then the final one I want to share is a layout I did on a whim. On Saturday in North Texas the hot news was that Big Tex burned down at the State Fair. If you live in Texas and have ever been to the State fair you’ll of seen Big Tex – he was 60 years old. We had only been to the fair the weekend before so I had a recent picture of him. I then download some of the pictures that were flying around the internet and created my layout in his honor.

This time I used a template from Anna Aspnes and some papers by her from collab I got as part of the digi files from The Daily Digi.

Sometimes you just have to record these special events in life – for a Texan they will be able to remember where they heard that Big Tex had burned. I’ll be able to say I was on a scrapbook retreat so I stopped and scrapped a layout.

Well I’m off to upload my  32 layouts from the weekend to Persnickity Prints!
