Basketball Scrapbooking

I love scrapbooking action pages so I’ve been enjoying catching up on some basketball layouts for my son’s album. He has a sport scrapbook (well its 2 now) and any layouts I do about his exploits in sports go in here. I don’t divide the different sports up they just go in there in a basic chronological order when I’m done. So far there is soccer, basketball, baseball, and cross country in there. He has been playing soccer since he was 4 so its fun to flick through the pages and see him change over the years in a similar environment. Basketball is the other major theme to the album and for some reason basketball is my favorite to scrap. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s the variety of faces he pulls when he’s playing or the fact that I prefer watching this game.

I often blend pictures of my son for these layouts – I think this helps express the action and speed of the game. When doing this the products created by Anna Aspnes are a prefect compliment. Her overlays and word art can also be blended with the pictures to build up the whole page background.

The second layout is slightly different. I’ve still used Anna’s sport theme products but I used a template freebie from Katie Pertiet as I really liked the film strip and how it let me add some extra pictures to a layout where I wanted to feature one larger picture. The large picture is actually blended. I duplicated the picture and the lower layer is set on a blending mode of hard light. I didn’t like what this did to image of my son and his coach. So I blended the second copy on top on the normal blending setting to just include the two players.
